The East vs. West Shootout (EVW) series was put together to help revive the Super Street division in CA.  Sandie Simkins was instrumental in putting the series together, and continues to be the promoter of the series.   The series had success in 2005 and stimulated interest from many teams who decided to participate in the series in 2006. With the cooperation of Bakersfield Speedway, Santa Maria Speedway, and the participating EVW teams, we were able to come up with a set of rules that would work for both tracks, and the teams agreed on also. The series was very strong throughout the ’06 season, and ended by paying out the biggest championship fund that a Super Street series has ever paid out in the state of California.
